A warm, relaxed, welcoming family of three is looking for their first nanny. They value kindness, emotional intelligence and a collaborative relationship with their childcare professional. Their existing housekeeper and cook are treated like family, and they hope their nanny will also feel a genuine sense of belonging in the home.

Child (20 months):

  • Sensitive and emotionally perceptive
  • Very attached to mum; goes inward if something feels “off”
  • Shy with adults at first but comfortable with other children
  • Cheerful, happy, curious and strong-willed
  • Loves dancing, music, reading, puzzles
  • Reluctant to try new foods (the nanny will help gently expand her diet)

Household Environment

  • Location South Kensington
  • Nursery: Enrolled at Nursery from September 2026
    • Nanny will handle drop-off and pick-up (8:30–11:30am) once nursery begins; hours remain 9–5pm
  • Staff:
    • Housekeeper
    • Cook (prepares Indian vegetarian food)
  • Dietary expectations:
    • Household is vegetarian
    • Nanny must be comfortable eating vegetarian lunches/snacks
  • Dynamic: Relaxed, calm, warm, and family-centred
  • Additional housekeeping: Light child-related tasks; deeper work covered by the housekeeper
  • Parent at home: Mum will work from home and be around, especially initially

Role Requirements:

Core Duties

  • Support a structured yet flexible daily routine
  • Morning activities: local classes, playgrounds, parks, library rhyme-time
  • Build a social network with other nannies and children in the area
  • Afternoon bath before lunch (current routine)
  • Prepare the child for nap time
  • Snack upon waking, followed by an outing or activity
  • Age-appropriate developmental play (music, dancing, puzzles, reading, creativity)
  • Support with trying new foods in a gentle, non-pressured way
  • Gradually take over simple cooking for the child as routine develops
  • Keep child’s areas tidy; manage nursery duties
  • Follow mother’s lead closely, especially in the early months

Care Structure

  • Initially shared care while settling in
  • Gradual transition to sole charge within ~1 month

Discipline & Boundaries

  • Gentle, emotionally attuned, non-authoritative
  • Calm explanations, empathy, balanced boundaries
  • Focus on safety, hygiene and emotional security
  • Encouraging the child’s independence and freedom to explore

Additional Information:

Schedule & Working Pattern

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
  • Overnights: Occasional (only if husband is travelling or busy)
  • Travel:
    • No travel expected
    • Family travels in August (couple of weeks) – no work
    • No work in December
  • Driving: Bonus, not essential

Language, Cultural & Professional Requirements

  • Fluent English required; first-language English a bonus
  • Experience with toddlers essential
  • Comfortable in a vegetarian household
  • Confident, creative and enthusiastic with early-years activities
  • Emotionally intelligent and sensitive to the needs of the child

Salary & Benefits

  • £50,000–£65,000 gross per annum
  • 28 days holiday, split 50/50 (half chosen by the family, half by the nanny)
