Quintessential Governess is seeking an experienced and engaging Governess to support two young girls, aged 6 and 4, within a very high-profile and well-known family based in Oman. The principals are a young couple who are generous, kind, and respectful, and who value and appreciate the contribution of their Governess. This is an exceptional opportunity for a professional who combines warmth, intelligence, and educational excellence with discretion and cultural awareness.

The role requires a professional with a strong educational background, exceptional manners, and the ability to create a warm yet structured environment for the children. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience working with UHNW or high-profile families, a strong command of English, and preferably be a native Arabic speaker. A background in teaching or early years education would be highly desirable.

This is a fully staffed household, and the position focuses solely on the care and education of the children. The family is warm and relaxed in style, yet holds high expectations when it comes to manners, behaviour, and academic engagement. The successful candidate will be mature, responsible, and culturally aware, understanding and respecting the family’s Muslim values and traditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily educational support and guidance for the children, incorporating age-appropriate learning and play.
• Oversee homework and encourage a love of learning through creative, engaging methods.
• Reinforce good manners, social behaviour, and etiquette at all times.
• Organise and maintain a consistent daily routine for the children.
• Communicate effectively with parents, the household PA, and other staff.
• Collaborate with nannies and tutors to ensure consistency in care and education.
• Plan enriching activities both at home and during travel.
• Accompany the family on trips when required, including to Dubai and the UK.
• Ensure the children’s safety and wellbeing at all times.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in private households or educational settings.
• Teaching qualification or degree preferred, but not required.
• Native Arabic speaker required; excellent English essential.
• Professional, energetic, and engaging with a genuine love for working with children.
• Confident swimmer; skiing experience a plus.
• Organised, proactive, and confident in planning routines and activities.
• Culturally sensitive with an understanding of family privacy and protocol.
• Mature, reliable, and discreet.
• Excellent personal presentation and table manners.
• Able to work harmoniously within a fully staffed household.
• Driver not required; full security in place.
